Free yourself. It’s okay.

Video: Window Seat - Erykah Badu

Track off the new album “New Amerykah Part Two” - in stores tomorrow.

[Please buy the original CD/tracks off iTunes. She’s a treasure that needs to be kept in a glass case on a pedestal and downloading illegally does nothing but bury her genius. Thanks.]

Changing Lives: The Shock Value II Tour

[continuation]

Manila, Philippines - March 27, 2010

Look out for the next concert U92 brings you…because trust - we want to let you know, it’s cool 2b U.

So, last night our radio station, U92 [92.3FM] and mother company AYC, made some noise by throwing Manila a little taste of Changing Lives: The Shock Value II Tour at the SM Mall of Asia grounds. A massive onstage spectacle under the conduction of producer/performer Timbaland, with special live guest appearances from Justin Timberlake and Jojo, the concert was a treat - with what Timbo so aptly described as “some sh*t you’ve never seen before”.

And indeed it was. Transferring their studio dynamic onto the stage, the 3 hour show saw Timbaland creating beats live onstage, and at several points in the performance, both the ATL native and his former N*Sync guest broke down into a live spontaneous beat box and freestyle jamming session.

LED screens provided virtual guests off the Shock Value II album to make an appearance as well, including the likes of Katy Perry, Drake, and Keri Hilson, plus an intermission of sorts with Timbaland’s brother Sebastian coming onstage to perform “Retro” live, off his upcoming album [summary: song has potential, dude looks like Mike Epps].

Observations: respect for Timbaland has increased. I was surprisingly pleased at the marketing-devoid show; no dancers, minimal brouhaha and gimmicks. Really just a group of musicians on stage, having fun, being spontaneous, doing what they love — and you can never be mad at that.

[Remember friends, if you love the artist, support him/her by buying the album. Not downloading it - buying it.]

Thank you so much to the estimated 75,000 strong crowd that came through to support, and of course - thank you to our partners that see our vision at U92, and really committed themselves to making this happen for a very deserving Philippine audience. Smart Buddy, Smart Bro - salamat - and of course thank you as well to McDonald’s, Samsung, Sandbox, and SM Mall of Asia.

To the Smart Foundation, thank you for extending the concert proceeds as a donation to rehabilitating Ondoy victims — may you continue to operate with such efficiency and consistency.

Cheers as well to the new friends I’ve made at Sofitel and Audi!

Changing Lives: The Shock Value II Tour was a presentation of N91 Live and All Youth Channels.

An old Cherokee tale tells of a grandfather teaching life principles to his grandson. The wise old Cherokee said, “Son, on the inside of every person a battle is raging between two wolves. One wolf is evil. It’s angry, jealous, unforgiving, proud, and lazy. The other wolf is good. It’s filled with love, kindness, humility, and self-control.
“These two wolves are constantly fighting,” the grandfather said.
The little boy thought about it, and said, “Grandfather, which wolf is going to win?”

The grandfather smiled and said, “Whichever one you feed.”
